Homecoming

An infection,

Had spread and corrupted our sense of direction,

Our visions blurred and our souls chained,

Oh, peoples pursue in vain,

Riches, wealth and glory,

Re-writing their own stories.

Death comes to all,

Now stop and recall.

Your history is one of rebellion.

Made for love were you.

But a forbidden fruit did Adam pursue.

Lost were our souls,

Becoming blacker than coal.

In darkness.

Lost, wandering without direction,

Cursed with a sinful infection.

Chained to sin and a lie.

Love, we could not find,

Searching for love all over are we,

Yes, we all have a need for intimacy,

Then found was love,

Coming down from above,

Restored that which was lost,

At a heavy cost.

Blood was shed,

Oh, love ran red,

When on that tree,

Love set us free.

Now cursed no more,

We can be restored.

Just put off the lie,

And don’t deny,

The gift under the tree,

In the shadow of Jesus, be free.

Don’t believe the lie,

You can become alive,

There is a cure for the infection,

An antidote for misdirection.

Let love come and abide,

Now don’t you hide.

From love’s call,

For the Father will welcome all.

Now look and see,

Who you were made to be,

And know that you were made on purpose,

For a perfect purpose.

Yes, Love left his heavenly crown,

To turn your frown upside down.

Your Father’s arms are opened wide,

Just abide,

In Love.
